reWINE at Barcelona Wine Week

On 5th of February, the reWINE project participated in the round table "The wine’s future is decided by present strategies", held within the first edition of Barcelona Wine Week.

Barcelona Wine Week (BWW) closed its first edition with excellent participation figures: more than 550 exhibiting companies, 40 Spanish Designations of Origin (DO) present at the show and more than 15,000 visitors, who attended nearly 3,200 business meetings and 50 programmed activities.

The reWINE could not miss this opportunity. Gabriela Benveniste, senior eco-innovation strategist at Inèdit, participated in the roundtable on sustainability and innovation in the sector, where she presented the reWINE and the preliminary results on CO2 savings achieved during the pilot test of reusing wine bottles.

She shared discussion with Eva Plazas, from the Vilarnau winery of the González Byass group, which prioritise sustainable policies in all their winemaking practices, and with Milagros Romero, from the Cooperativa Cellers Solitud (Cuenca), who explained the Wineries for Climate Protection project. They discussed the commitment of wineries to make more sustainable production from an environmental point of view and the importance of carbon footprint calculations and life cycle analyzes.
